Our Space – Is it Gone Forever, Ever, Ever?

April 27, 2008 staff

This post is pure speculation, did I say that … speculation, opinion, theory, etc. The Coast Guard Director of Civil Rights, Terri A. Dickerson published “Our Space” this past February to rebut much of what has been written about her in the Blogospher and mostly here. We challenged her use of Government resources for such a purpose to both the Coast Guard, and DHS Inspector General. The inaugural issue lead readers to believe it would be continued, it has not so far. Coast Guard has refused to respond to direct inquiries on Our Space, but did respond to one reader who requested a copy in his official capacity simply that it has not been published since February.

My guess, speculation, theory is that Dickerson indeed did get caught using government resources for personal gain.

The United States Coast Guard was asked to comment for this story and at press time (some two months later) has not.

    TJ,
Congratulations for your work on Our Space. Clearly, you were successful in stopping inappropriate communications from Terri Dickerson TO THE FIELD. NOTE THAT SHE WAS NOT DIRECTING HER COMMENTS TO HER STAFF.

I am the Coast Guard employee that asked for a copy of Our Space for my unit. If it is what Ms. Dickerson advertised it to be, then my Unit certainly needed or still needs the new version.

Civil Rights on Deck offers no information of value to me as a manager, and I only can only assume it offers no value to anyone who is not interested in what party or event Ms. Dickerson’s staff just held.

Another reader here commented that Civil Rights on Deck is very Afro Centric and I agree. I would like to see the Coast Guard more open to Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Jews and Muslims. Don’t confuse what I just said, Civil Rights on Deck is very afro centric, not the Coast Guard. So yes, add that I would like to see the Coast Guard more open to blacks as well.

What were you expecting? Take a look at the picture that you saw of the CR staff at DEOMI…what did you see? Also, I wonder how many of those pictured were CG Vets or disabled? Just food for thought.

Based on the number of blacks who have ran screaming from the building, there may not be all that much room for blacks in Coast Guard Civil Rights let alone Whites, Asians, Hispanics, Jews or Muslims. What does that leave? Oh yea an empty Office of Civil Rights, Terri, Francine, Capt Kolb and the two kids they keep locked in the basement.

Plesae send in Child Protective Services!

    You get my point.
