June 12 1967

In Loving v. Virginia, the Supreme Court rules that prohibiting interracial marriage is unconstitutional. Sixteen states that still banned interracial marriage at the time are forced to revise their laws.

Coast Guard Award Solicitation

ALCOAST 349/09, announces the solicitation for the 2009 National Organization of Mexican American Rights (NOMAR) Meritorious Service Award. NOMAR is a national non-profit organization established for the purpose of promoting and defending the civil rights of Hispanic Americans and their right to Equal Employment and Educational Opportunities.

National Organization of Mexican American Rights 2009 Conference

The 2009 NOMAR 12th Annual Training Conference & Business Meeting will be held August 26 to 28 in Las Vegas, NV.  This years theme is “Hispanic Americans”  Contributing to Positive Change in America.”

EEOC 2009 EXCEL Conference

    Is it true a Coast Guard employee writes your version of Civil Rights on Deck for you.

    Anon,

    Yes that is true. A Coast Guard employee provides us with our content for Civil Rights on Deck. He has offered to to do the same for the OCR and been rejected. As recently as April of this year he offered up his thoughts on being the Coast Guard employee to have participated in the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and University Conference and was rejected there as well.
