Master Chief Stolle Would Have Made a Great MCPOCG
Reader Comment Spotlight on our story Skip Bowen Breaks Silence But Remains Silent.
Submitted on 2009/06/27 at 11:45pmThere are a few problems with the MCPOCG’s statement regarding MCPO Stolle’s retirement from active duty.
First, he touches on the challenges that the females in the Coast Guard have had trying to integrate into an all male service. Everyone can agree that it is no secret the females of the service have been the victims of illegal discriminatioin, and most of it is due to the simple fact that they were only trying to fit in. The standards that the men in the Coast Guard are held to are much different than those standards that are set for the women. Sadly, he states that the women in our Coast Guard are still having challenges today. If that is true then someone needs to be held accountable, patting a few of our pioneering women on the back is not enough. Actions speak louder than words and if these issues aren’t resolved by now than someone needs to be replaced, somewhere.
Second, he felt so strongly about the job he did as HQ CMC that he felt obligated to name his replacement. Wow….Aren’t Admiirals capable of choosing their own Gold Badges?
Finally, he feels that MCPO Stolle would have made the perfect Bosn Mate. I respectfully disagree, she would have made the perfect MCPOCG, the one that should be currently holding the position.
