Biggest Loser Joins the Coast Guard on August 4th
Dan Evans of the reality TV series “The Biggest Loser” has signed to perform at the Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City, North Carolina on the Coast Guards Birthday August 4th. Support Center Elizabeth City is the same base that brought Lynyrd Skynyrd to the Harbor of Hospitality last September. Over 8,000 Skynyrd fans from around the region enjoyed that open base concert event. Unfortunately for many Dan Evans and Biggest Loser fans, the base will not be open to the general public for his concert on Coast Guard Day.
August 4th is the United States Coast Guards Birthday, and Support Center Elizabeth City is known for hosting the biggest and best Coast Guard Day in the service. In 2008, authorized patrons of Coast Guard Morale, Well-Being & Recreation (MWR) which includes Active Duty, Retired, and Coast Guard Civil Service employees were treated to two live concerts, a fully catered North Carolina Bar-B-Que lunch and much more by MWR.
Last year MWR signed with Nashville recording artist Natalie Stovall and Baltimore’s Kelly Bell Band to provide live entertainment for their Coast Guard Day celebration. This year’s live concert will include the Lloyd Dobbler Effect fusing modern rock with Latin rhythms and go-go beats in addition to Evans.
Evans music style was inspired by numerous artists from Keith Urban, George Strait, Rascal Flatts and the Eagles, says his website. Authorized patrons in Elizabeth City can expect another blow out day in 2009!

They rocked last year!!! Thanks Coast Guard you are the best!
Joines.
Really.
Did we forget spellcheck again, or did we just not pay attention during fourth grade spelling?
Thanks Mr. Spell Check.
Lets just hope that there are no flag incidents this year…
There really wasn’t a flag issue last year, one employee trying to spin up the local NAACP does not make a flag incident.
The local command met with our NAACP leadership. We here in local chapter didn’t have a problem with the flag. Not a big deal unless someone makes it a big deal and one person tried to do that.
We had the first really good exchange with base leadership in decades thanks to the CO contacting us. We didn’t go to her, she came to us. That says something.
Our coast guard community is great and we hope they have another good concert this year. I love the biggest loser show and will be there if I can get on base.
