John Burton Vick

In September of 2008, Coast Guard Morale, Well-Being and Recreation (MWR) hosted legends of southern rock Lynyrd Skynyrd at the Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City, NC.  The promoter for that concert was John Burton Vick, owener of Radio Media Productions out of Edenton, NC.

Vick promised Coast Guard MWR great returns for their participation in hosting the concert on base.  The fruits of Coast Guards labors resulted in months of waiting for payment, then a bounced check from Vick for $39,000.00.

Back in May of this year, the Danville Virginia Harvest Jubilee met the same fate, a bounced check for $85,000.00.  Coast Guard eventually obtained payment after Coast Guard Report intervened and requested an interview with Vick, he payed up in certified funds.  Danville wasn’t so lucky.

We’re following this story and will bring you more detailed information leading up to the trial.  In our next update we’ll look at who works with Vick and dig deeper into his connection to North Carolina District Attorney Frank Parrish’ s office.

In early February, 2009, the Danville Police Department began investigating a fraud complaint filed by the Harvest Jubilee Committee Inc. As the result of that investigation, Danville Police filed charges against John Burton Vick age 35 of Edenton, North Carolina. The Danville Police Department charged Vick with felony obtaining money under false pretenses (VA S.C. 18.2-178). Vick is charged with obtaining a total of $85,000.00 under false pretenses.

On March 7, 2009, Vick was arrested for a  felony bad check charge ($35,000) in Edenton. He was released under conditions that he show up for court proceedings in Danville today. The bad check charge (VA S.C.18.2-178) stemmed from the same incident.

This morning at approximately 10:00AM, Vick came to Danville to be served with the two obtain money by false pretense charges.

He was released on a $6,000.00 unsecured bond pending court proceedings.
