What a joke. You purposefully design the 123s with thin steel plating to reduce cost which makes the hull weak and puts the crew and general public at risk, you lie about that to the Coast Guard, and you get a safety award?
“This award is validation of the tireless efforts by every member of the Bollinger shipbuilding team in creating a safe working environment and a safety culture that is second to none,” said Mr. Bollinger.”
I get this is a workplace safety award but come on. As long as your workers are safe you can put your customers at risk? The Coast Guard specifically stated that they feared a loss of life if the 123s were used in heavy seas.

You just can’t let Bollinger have any fun!
According to what I can find on Google, the Coast Guard stopped the 123′ patrol boats back in June of 2005. I doubt the award criteria takes something that is nearly 7 years old and unrelated to workplace safety into account.
Give ‘em a break!

I understand the point and agree with it from that point of view. As far as the workers go they deserve it. My problem is that even though this is 7 years old they planned to release all 49 123s with known weak hulls. And that would have just ended. Plus they have yet to take responsibility or settle – which is current as well.
I think it’s way beyond hypocritical. The leaders go down the safety route in this case because it is a good business decision and means more money. They went the opposite way on Deepwater to make money. That shows safety only matters when there is money to be made. When money can be made hanging crews and the public out to dry they will do that in a heartbeat.
I support this award too. With the bad apples like Dekort having been fired out of the Deepwater program, it has righted itself the past few years.
Congrats to Bollinger and their government partners!
Nice
The workers at Bollinger deserve it. Leadership does not.
The workers are successful because of the leadership. I can elaborate in chat if you like.
Given your legal problems the past many years, some would say the joke is obviously on you.
